The Humane Society of Marlboro County

  • The Humane Society is a non-profit animal rescue organization devoted to saving, rehabilitating, and rehoming abandoned and abused animals in Marlboro County. We rely on the generosity of individuals and organizations to help support our mission.

As of February 2018, we accepted a contract to operate the Marlboro County Animal Shelter located at 242 Ag Street in Bennettsville, SC. The county shelter also has an agreement with the City of Bennettsville to house their homeless animals. We do not provide animal control. Marlboro County and the City of Bennettsville still manage animal control services and employ animal control officers.

We have been working with the county for the past few years always heavily involved in the shelter. In 2017, we transported over 1300 homeless cats and dogs to rescue partners thanks to our volunteers and transport grants from Petsmart Charities plus your donations!
